A very forgiving Spruce that will grow in various soils, but will excel in better draining and sandier soils. It grows extremely fast its first 10 years and slows as it ages. The more sun it gets, the fuller it gets; so keep it to full sun. Reduced soil pH is not required, but will help mineral uptake increasing growth rate and fullness.

Known for its icy blue color, the CBS has been a landscaping basic for as long as we have been around. CBS can be susceptible to Cytospora canker, which affects trees in hotter and humid areas. There is no known treatment, so plant where affected CBS are not present.

Serbian Spruce grows tall with a slender, straight trunk, but it stays quite narrow. The tree brings a lot of character to the landscape. Serbian Spruce easily elevates the tone of the garden design.  The short needles are bicolored.  Dark, glossy green on top, they'll flash a surprise silvery color on the underside as the breeze catches those secondary branches.
